Have you ever wondered what it must be like to lounge around in your own private cinema, while genteel waiters glide in and out to top up your wine or butter your popcorn? Why wonder if you can do it? Cape Town boutique hotel, The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, has opened its 16-seater private cinema to Joe Public, which means that you and I can now wow that special someone with an extraordinary night at the movies. You can kick off your shoes, and rest them on the seat in front of you. Heck, be a rebel and don’t even switch off your cellphone because inside the padded cinema, there’s no one to tell you what to do.
For R395 per person, you get a pre-selected three-course meal in the hotel’s Azure Restaurant, and afterwards, even though you will have no space left, you’ll somehow force yourself to devour mini Magnum ice-creams, homemade milkshakes, popcorn, sweeties, and whatever else tickles your fancy from the movie-munching menu. The movie schedule changes monthly but expect classics like The Sound of Music and The Rocky Horror Picture Show to more recent releases like Star Trek Into Darkness and The Great Gatsby, not to forget popular chick flicks like Dirty Dancing and Eat, Pray, Love.
Screenings occur three times daily at 17.30, 20.30 and 22.30.
