Phalaborwa has been declared a permanent home for the annual Limpopo Marula Festival! This is because of the area's many local and international tourists and close proximity to major tourist destinations, including the world-renowned Kruger National Park incorporated within the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, which includes Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Activities during this cultural and sporting festival include a vibrant multicultural carnival, a half marathon, 4x4 challenge, a golf day, youth rugby (Bulletjies) exhibition, fashion show, "Cuisine-Ala-Marula", tourism career exhibition, as well as open-air concerts that include dance movement, gospel and jazz concerts.
The Phalaborwa town has a well-developed infrastructure to host the festival, including a top-class airport and golf course, a wide variety of accommodation, great local products and numerous game lodges in close proximity. Within easy reach are the towns of Hoedspruit, Tzaneen, Modjadjiskloof, Magoebaskloof and Giyani, where you can also find excellent accommodation for the duration of the festival.
